| April 10th Update |
|
As most of you know, Kenny was in a bicycle accident on March 24, 2007. He suffered a severe Traumatic Brain Injury and it was touch and go for a very long period of time. We are happy to report his progress!
Kenny had emergency surgery 5 days ago from a blood clot that had developed and had a green filter put in that has helped get rid of the blood clot. This is GOOD news. Kenny started moving his head and feels pain today. Yesterday he took 8 breaths without the breathing machine, but today Kenny has started breathing on his own. He is also beginning to swallow and suck which is very positive.
There have been many rumors and thoughtless comments made from other teens in the area. We are choosing not to focus on the negative and encourage you to talk to your children/teens/family about the dangers of riding a bike without a helmet. Kids feel they invincible and that it could never happen to them, but as we’ve come to know, this is NOT true. It can happen to anyone! Please use Kenny’s story to educate your family and friends on what can happen if you do not wear a helmet.
Your prayers are so important to us and we ask you all to continue to keep praying for Kenny – The power of prayer is the most powerful healer.
We would like to thank our entire community for your thoughts and prayers and will continue to update you as progress is made.
Love,
